The Hidden Truth About Email Marketing That Most "Gurus" Won't Tell You

After 18+ years in affiliate marketing and generating $4M+ in Ecommerce and direct marketing revenue prior to that, I can tell you: Email marketing isn't just A channel - it's THE channel.

Here's why:

Anymore it seems like social media sites / platforms change algorithms unpredictably and quite frequently. Because of this, more and more marketers are going back to what has always worked for them. Email. Email consistently delivers 4x higher ROI than any other channel in many campaigns. But keep in mind that your email service provider (ESP)can make or break your success.

I'm religious about three things:

1. Using enterprise-grade ESPs that prioritize deliverability after testing 3 different providers)

2. Regular list cleaning is a must - I remove inactive subscribers every 90 days, maintaining a lean, engaged list that consistently hits higher open rates. Make sure that either your ESP supports list cleaning and deliverability tracking or that it can be integrated if not natively then with services like Zapier.

3. Always use optins. Cold email is a waste of time and in many cases is unlawful as per the CAN-SPAM Act.

Pro tip: Test your ESP's list cleaning features before committing. Look for automated engagement scoring and segmentation tools. They're worth every penny.

Remember: A small, engaged list beats a massive, unresponsive one every time. Your email subscribers ARE your business. Without them, you really have nothing tangible. You will never own social media, you will never own your likes and followers since they belong to the social media company. I call likes and followers vanity metrics. As you can see, we do not have many and are pretty new on many platforms. It has never been a priority for these reasons.

The secret is in the sauce. The sauce is your list.

Here at Rockbit and even in past businesses we have been using a provider called GetResponse for many reasons. We have tried a few but our business always ends up going to these guys. Their interface is not as fancy or modern as some of them out there, but they have all the bells and whistles you would expect. Things like drag and drop landing page design, tons of templates for emails, workflow automation, course marketing and much much more. In our opinion their pricing is another thing that really sets this company apart, it is so much better than the others we have checked and tried. Above all though is there INCREDIBLE customer service. No matter how good you are with these things, there will always come a point you need help. They have live support even in the free plan. You can use them for free until you get up to 500 subscribers, which we totally did by the way.

Here is a link to their website if you want to sign up for a free plan and give them a test drive, I can personally recommend them. Love these guys.
